  1. Disconnect the park brake indicator switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

Disconnect the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  5

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  7

  1. Locate a short to ground in CKT XM2 or in CKT XA2.
  2. Repair any short to ground in CKT XM2 or in CKT XA2.
  3. If both of the circuits are OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Replace the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement .

  1. Reconnect all of the connectors and the components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the brake lamp illuminates properly.
