DTC B1982 Device Power 1 Circuit High Source Battery Voltage High

Circuit Description

B+ is supplied to the Integrated Radio Controller (IRC) by the BCM low power drive output on circuit A52. The IRC monitors this voltage to determine if it is whtin the valid operating range.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC B1982 will set if the input voltage into the IRC exceeds15.5 volts for approximately 1.2 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • DTC B1982 will be stored in the IRC memory.
    • The IRC will not respond to any manual or memory inputs when the voltage is greater than 15.5 volts.
    • NO driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • DTC B1982 will clear when the voltage level falls below 15.5 volts for approximately 1.2 seconds.
    • DTC B1982 can also be cleared by using the scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

DTC B1982 may set if the vehicle is placed on a fast charging battery charger for a lnog period of time.

Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step checks the voltage at terminal F1 of the radio by using the scan tool.

  2. This step replaces the radio.

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Select DATA from the IRC data list.
  4. View the battery voltage into the IRC.

Is the battery voltage less than the specified value?

15.5 V

Go to DTC B1982 Source/Battery Voltage High for diagnosis of the high voltage malfunction.

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Install the scan tool.
  3. Verify that DTC B1982 is not present and that the radio operates properly.

Does the radio operate properly?

Go to Step 1
