  1. Go to the DTC List for a listing of all DTCs that the radio may set.
  2. The DTC List is an identification for all possible codes that the radio may set.

  1. Remove the scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert a tape into the tape player (if equipped).

Does the tape player operate properly?

Go to Step 6

Go to Tape Player Inoperative for diagnosis.

  1. Remove the tape from the tape player.
  2. Operate all of the radio controls including the volume control, channel selector, fader, bass and treble.
  3. Operate the steering wheel radio controls.

Do all of the radio controls and the steering wheel radio controls operate properly?

If the radio controls are inoperative, go to Radio Controls Inoperative for diagnosis.

Is the repair procedure complete?

Insert a compact disk into the compact disk player (if equipped).

Does the compact disk player operate properly?

  1. If the compact disk player is inoperative, go to Compact Disc Inoperative for diagnosis.
  2. If the compact disk player skips, go to Compact Disc General Diagnosis for diagnosis.

Is the repair procedure complete?

  1. Remove the compact disk from the compact disk player.
  2. Tune the radio in to any AM or FM station.
  3. Verify that all of the speakers and the radio display operate properly.

Do all of the speakers and the radio display operate properly?

  1. If one or more speakers are inoperative, go to One or More Speakers are Inoperative for diagnosis.
  2. If one or more speakers are inoperative with the Bose System, go to One or More Speakers Inoperative (Bose System) for diagnosis.
  3. If the radio display is inoperative and the speakers operate properly, go to Radio Display Inoperative, Speakers Operative for diagnosis.
  4. If the radio display and the speakers are inoperative, go to Radio Display and Speakers Inoperative for diagnosis.

  1. Tune the radio in to any AM or FM station.
  2. Insert and play a tape in the tape player.
  3. Insert and play a CD in the CD player.
  4. Listen to the speakers for any type of noises.

Is there any type of noises present?

  1. If there is noise present that is due to poor reception, go to Radio Poor Reception for diagnosis.
  2. If there is accessory noise present, go to Speaker Noise - Accessory for diagnosis.
  3. If there is general radio noise present, go to Speaker Noise - General for diagnosis.
  4. If there is speaker noise present at any speaker, go to Speaker Noise - Accessory for diagnosis.
