Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear compartment lid applique. Refer to
Rear Compartment Lid Applique Replacement
.
- Remove the screws (5)
that retain the lock cylinder (4) to the lid applique (3).
- Remove the lock cylinder (4) from the applique (3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the lock cylinder (4)
to the applique (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws (5)
in order to retain the lock cylinder (4) to the lid applique (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws (5) to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).

Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement Buick
Removal Procedure
- Drill out the rivet (6)
from the lock cylinder retainer (5).
- Remove the lock cylinder retainer (5) by rocking forward
while pulling down and out of the rear compartment lid (1).
- Remove the lock cylinder retainer gasket (4).
- Inspect the lock cylinder retainer gasket (4).
Replace the gasket if damage is evident.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (7) from the lock cylinder (2).
- Remove the lock cylinder (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical
connector (7) to the lock cylinder (2).
- Install the lock cylinder (2) to the vehicle.
- Install the lock cylinder retainer gasket (4).
- Install the lock cylinder retainer (5).
- Install the rivet (6) to the lock cylinder retainer (5).
