Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 284202  Size: LH
  3. Remove the 4 nuts (7) that retain the applique to the rear compartment lid (1).
  4. Pry gently between the rear compartment lid (1) and the applique with a flat bladed tool in order to release the retainers (6).
  5. Remove the applique (3) from the vehicle.
  6. Inspect the applique (3) for broken retainers (6).
  7. Replace the applique as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the applique (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Ensure that the lock cylinder shaft is seated through the rear compartment lid (1) and is fully seated in the latch.

  3. Press the applique (3) to the rear compartment lid (1) in order to engage the retainers (6).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nuts (7) in order to retain the applique (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts (7) to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  7. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
