Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 292142  Size: SH
  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls-3.8L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls-4.0L, 4.6L.
  4. Remove the PCM bracket.
  5. Remove the electrical connector from the air inlet actuator.
  6. Remove the air inlet actuator retaining screws (1).

  8. Remove the air inlet actuator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air inlet actuator.

  2. Object Number: 292142  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the air inlet retaining screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  5. Install the electrical connector to the air inlet actuator.
  6. Install the powertrain control module (PCM) bracket.
  7. Install the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls-3.8L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls-4.0L, 4.6L.
  8. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Install the instrument panel (IP) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
