Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement Buick
Removal Procedure
- Remove the right sound insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
.
- Open the instrument panel (IP) storage compartment.
- Remove the fasteners that secure the IP storage compartment hinge
to the IP.
- Partially remove the IP storage compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2).
- Remove the IP storage compartment.
- Remove the lock and latch assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the latch and lock assembly onto the instrument panel
(IP) storage compartment door. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
- Partially install the IP storage compartment.
- Connect the electrical connector (2).
- Install the IP storage compartment.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fasteners
that secure the IP storage compartment to the IP.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
- Close the IP compartment.
- Install the right sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to

.
- Open the instrument panel
(IP) storage compartment.
- Remove the fasteners (1) from the storage compartment hinge
to the IP.
- Remove the IP storage compartment.
- Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lock cylinder. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
- Install the storage compartment.

- Install the storage
compartment fasteners (1).
Tighten

- Install the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to
