Has the starting system check been performed?

Load test the battery. Refer to Battery Check .

Does the battery pass the Battery Load Test?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect J 39200 between the positive battery terminal and the starter terminal B.
  3. While measuring voltage on the DMM, turn the ignition switch to the START position.

Is the voltage measured less than the specified value?

0.5 V

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a DMM between the negative battery terminal and G113.
  2. While measuring voltage on the DMM, turn the ignition switch to the START position.

Is the voltage measured less than the specified value?

0.5 V

Inspect for engine seizure.

Does the engine show signs of seizure?

Go to Step 8

  1. Inspect the positive battery cable (CKT 1) for a poor connection between the starter motor terminal B and the battery.
  2. If connection is OK, then replace the positive battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement Positive 3100 or Battery Cable Replacement
  3. Recheck the system.

    • If connection is OK, then replace the negative battery cable.
    • Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .
    • Recheck the system.
