Installation Procedure
The 3.0L (L46) (VIN W)
uses a PG260 F1 starter motor.
Make sure the correct starter motor is being installed.
- Install the starter motor,
the starter bolts, and any removed shims to the engine.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the starter
bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the starter bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
- Connect the positive battery
cable (9) and connect the starter solenoid wire (6) at the starter motor.
Tighten
• | Tighten the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut (8) to 9.5 N·m
(84.08 lb in). |
• | Tighten the starter solenoid S terminal nut (7) to 2.3 N·m
(20.35 lb in). |
- Install the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement
