Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.

Do the headlamps illuminate?

Go to Step 3

Go to Low and High Beams Headlamps Inoperative

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  3. Verify the parking brake is disengaged.
  4. Cover the ambient light sensor.
  5. Wait more than 20 seconds.

Do the headlamps illuminate?

Do the park lamps illuminate?

Test for a open or high resistance in the automatic headlamp control circuit of the automatic headlamp control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the automatic headlamp module.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  4. Probe the both battery positive voltage circuits of the automatic headlamp control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate for both tests?

Go to Step 8

Check the AUTO HEAD LAMP fuse for an open.

Is the AUTO HEAD LAMP fuse open?

Probe the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the automatic headlamp control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 18

Probe the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the automatic headlamp control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Probe the ground circuit of the automatic headlamp control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to a battery voltage.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Is the park brake indicator in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) ON?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect the automatic headlamp control module.
  3. Disconnect the ambient light sensor.
  4. Turn the ignition to the ON position.

Do the headlamps illuminate?

Test for a short to ground in the DRL park brake ON signal. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open, high resistance, short to voltage in the ambient light sensor input circuit of the automatic headlamp control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the affected battery positive voltage circuit of the automatic headlamp control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an short to ground in the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the automatic headlamp control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
