Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check?

Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds?

Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Key-In-Ignition parameter in the BCM Inputs data list.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition.

Does the scan tool display Yes with the key in the ignition and No when the key is removed from the ignition ?

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Input in the BCM Inputs data list.

Does the Park Lamp Input parameter display Off?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the lights on signal circuit at the BCM and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the RCDLR.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the chime control circuit at the RCDLR and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the RCDLR.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the key-in-ignition signal circuit at the RCDLR and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the lights on signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the chime control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the RFA module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
