LR Switch on LF Door Stuck Down

Object Number: 460188 Size: MF
Power Door Systems Components
Cell 120: Front Power Window Components
Handling ESD Sensitive Parts Notice

Circuit Description

The circuit for the passenger window switch on the driver door consists of the following components:

    • The left front power window switch assembly
    • The simple bus interface (SBI)
    • The driver door module (DDM)

The left front power window switch is different from the other window switches. This switch contains an internal microprocessor. The power window switch assembly reports all switch activity as SBI messages to the DDM. The diagnostic software for DTC B2215 is contained in the DDM. This program runs once every 300 milliseconds. Faults involving the DDM or the SBI may set other DTCs and affect the operation of the power door locks or the outside rearview mirrors.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC B2215 will be set current if the simple bus interface (SBI) messages from the left front power window switch indicate that the switch has been in the DOWN position for 15 consecutive seconds. This diagnostic will not run if either DTC B1982 (battery voltage high) or DTC B1983 (battery voltage low) are set current.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

This DTC is current only when the fault is present. While this DTC is current the driver door module (DDM) ignores actuation of the left front power window switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • DTC B2215 will be set from current to history when either of the following events occur:
      • The window DOWN input cycles off.
      • The power mode changes from OFF to RUN.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 cycles of the ignition switch.
    • Use a scan tool in order to clear a history DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

    • A history DTC is evidence of an intermittent problem.
    • If DTC B2215 is current, cycle the ignition switch from OFF to RUN. If the DTC is still current, perform the following diagnostic.
