The circuit for the passenger window switch on the driver door consists of the following components:
• | The left front power window switch assembly |
• | The simple bus interface (SBI) |
• | The driver door module (DDM) |
The left front power window switch is different from the other power window switches, as the switch contains an internal microprocessor. The left front power window switch assembly reports all switch activity as SBI messages to the DDM. The actual diagnostic software for DTC B2213 is contained in the DDM. This program is run once every 300 milliseconds. Faults involving the DDM or the SBI may set other DTCs and affect the operation of the power door locks and the outside rearview mirrors.
DTC B2213 is set current if the simple bus interface (SBI) messages from the left front power window switch indicate that the passenger window switch has been in the DOWN position for 15 consecutive seconds. This diagnostic will not run if either DTC B1982 (battery voltage high) or DTC B1983 (battery voltage low) are set current.
This DTC is current only when the fault is present. While this DTC is current the driver door module (DDM) will ignore actuation of the left front power window switch.
• | DTC B2213 will be set from current to history when either of the following conditions occur: |
• | The window DOWN input cycles off. |
• | The power mode changes from OFF to RUN. |
• | The history DTC will clear after 50 cycles of the ignition switch. |
• | Use a scan tool may in order to clear the history DTC. |
• | A history DTC is evidence of an intermittent fault. |
• | If DTC B2213 is current, cycle the ignition switch from OFF to RUN. If the DTC is still current, perform the following diagnostic procedure. |
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
Perform the Power Door Diagnostic System Check prior to continuing the diagnosis of this DTC.
This step tests for other set DTCs.
This step verifies the operation of all of the power windows.
This step tests the left front power window switch.
