Adjustment Procedure

Caution: Striker alignment is crucial for proper operation of the door systems. Do not hit the striker with a hammer or force alignment in any other way. Failure to properly adjust striker will result in excessive door efforts or extensive damage to door system operation which could result in personal injury.

  1. Loosen the striker.
  2. Finger-tighten the bolts.
  3. Holding the outside handle, gently push the door against the body in order to ensure a flush fit.
  4. Unlatch the door.
  5. Open the door.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Tighten the striker bolts.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the 2 striker bolts to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  9. Touch-up any exposed, unpainted surface on the lock pillar.
  10. Important: Poor adjustment of the striker may cause the following conditions:

       • The door glass hits the roof molding during door closure.
       • The door glass does not engage the roof molding sufficiently.
These conditions result in air leaks and/or wind noise.

  11. Adjust the door glass as needed. Refer to Front Side Door Window Adjustment or Rear Side Door Window Adjustment .
