Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 256011  Size: SH

    Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Apply tape to the following locations in order to prevent any paint damage during this procedure:
  2. • The edges of the fenders
    • The hood (1)

  3. Remove the hood hinge cover (1).

  4. Object Number: 256003  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 assist rods (2).

  6. Object Number: 256011  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 2 hinge pivot bolts (3).
  8. Remove the hood (1) with the aid of an assistant.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 256011  Size: SH
  1. Place the hood (1) into position with the aid of an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hinge pivot bolts (3) in order to retain the hood (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (93 lb in).

  5. Install the assist rods (2).

  6. Object Number: 256012  Size: SH
  7. Install the hood hinge cover (1).

  8. Object Number: 256003  Size: SH
  9. Align the hood as needed. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  10. Touch up any exposed or unpainted surface after the hood replacement.
