Did you perform the Defogger System Check?

  1. Connect a Scan Tool .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  3. Turn the rear defogger on.
  4. Display the SBM outputs.

Is the rear defogger being requested ON?

Go to Step  3

  1. Disconnect the HVAC control assembly.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the HVAC control assembly connector terminal B1 and ground. Refer to Probing Electrical Connectors in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step  4

  1. Inspect for the proper terminal contact at the HVAC control assembly.
  2. If the contact is OK, replace the HVAC control assembly. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C - Automatic.

Was the control assembly replaced?

Go to Defogger System Check

Go to Step  6

  1. Inspect for the proper terminal contact at the HVAC programmer.
  2. If OK, replace the HVAC programmer. Refer to Programmer Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C Automatic.

Was the programmer replaced?

Repair the faulty terminal contact. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
