Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• | Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• | Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
• | If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
- Disable
the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the right side sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the right side IP endcap. Refer to
Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the IP cluster. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
.
- Remove the retaining screws from the data link.
- Remove the IP lower trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the retaining screws that secure the right side vent duct.
- Remove the retaining screws that secure the left side vent duct.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the temperature sensors.
- Remove the right vent duct.
- Remove the left vent duct.
- Remove the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Remove the AC/heater control. Refer to
Control Assembly Replacement
in HVAC System - Automatic.
- Remove the right side vent duct fastener.
- Remove the right side vent duct.
- Remove the speaker. Refer to
Radio Front Speaker Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Remove the right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the left windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the fasteners that
secure the IP trim pad.
- Pull the IP trim pad slightly rearward.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the IP trim pad.
Installation Procedure
- Partially install the
IP trim pad.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Align the IP trim pad with the carrier.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fasteners
in order to secure the IP trim pad.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the left windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the speaker. Refer to
Radio Front Speaker Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Install the right side vent duct.
- Install the right side vent duct fastener.
- Install the A/C/heater control. Refer to
Control Assembly Replacement
in HVAC System - Automatic.
- Install the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Install the left vent duct.
- Install the right vent duct.
- Install the retainers in order to secure the left vent duct.
- Install the retainers in order to secure the right vent duct
- Install the IP lower trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the retainers fastening the data link.
- Install the IP cluster. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
.
- Install the right side IP endcap. Refer to
Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement
.
- Install the right sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
in SIR.
