  1. Connect the scan tool to another vehicle of the same model year in order to ensure proper operation of the scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  3. Attempt to establish communication with the vehicle.

Does the scan tool communicate with the vehicle?

  1. Connect the scan tool to the original vehicle.
  2. Verify that the scan tool connections are clean and tight.

Is the terminal contact between the DLC and the scan tool OK?

Repair the short to battery positive voltage (B+) in CKT 835 (DK GRN) between IP junction block connector C4 terminal F8 and compact disc (CD) changer connector terminal 10.

  2. Measure the voltage from the DLC terminal 14 to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

  3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  4. Clear any DTCs.
