  1. Start the engine.
  2. Using a DMM, measure the voltage between the generator terminal L and ground.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

8 Volts

Go to Step 2

Using a DMM, measure the voltage from the BATT terminal (RED) and ground.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

8 Volts

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 6

  1. Engine running at a fast idle.
  2. Turn all accessories OFF.
  3. Using a DMM, measure the voltage across the battery terminals.

Is the voltage between the specified values?

13.3 -15.5 Volts

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

  1. Perform a generator electrical test. Refer to Generator Not Operating Properly
  2. If generator is OK, perform a battery load test. Refer to Battery Load Test

Check for open or poor connections in CKT 225, (RED), between the generator terminal L and the PCM connector C2, terminal 35.

Check for an open in CKT 1 between the generator BATT terminal and the battery.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the generator.
