Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 37097-A Heater Hose Clamp Tool

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Remove the right cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .

  5. Remove the outlet radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  6. Remove the inlet radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .

  8. Remove the radiator shroud from the radiator.

  9. Object Number: 165582  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler lines from the radiator.

  12. Remove the overflow tube from the radiator.

  14. Remove the coolant level sensor. Refer to Coolant Level Sensor Replacement .
  15. Remove the hood latch support from the upper tie bar.

  17. Remove the upper radiator seal.

  19. Disconnect the A/C condenser from the radiator.

  20. Object Number: 165588  Size: SH
  21. Remove the upper radiator mounting brackets.
  22. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 165588  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower mounting pads.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the upper radiator mounting brackets.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the radiator mounting brackets 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the A/C condenser to the radiator.

  7. Install the upper radiator seal.
  8. Install the hood latch to the upper tie bar.

  9. Object Number: 165575  Size: SH
  10. Install the coolant level sensor. Refer to Coolant Level Sensor Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 165594  Size: SH
  12. Install the overflow tube to the radiator.

  13. Object Number: 165582  Size: SH
  14. Connect the transaxle oil cooler lines to the radiator side tanks.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle oil cooler line fittings to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  16. Install the radiator shroud to the radiator.

  17. Object Number: 165598  Size: SH
  18. Install the inlet radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  19. Install the outlet radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  20. Install the right cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  21. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  22. Connect the negative battery cable.
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  24. Start the engine. Check for coolant leaks.
