Diagnostic Instructions
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) monitors the cruise control indicator switch. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed ON, the cruise control switch is closed and the signal circuit is low. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed OFF, the cruise control

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the steering wheel controls switch - left.
- Cruise switch ON, test for less than infinite resistance between the steering wheel control supply voltage terminal 1 and the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit terminal 9 at the terminals of the steering wheel controls switch - left.
⇒ | If the resistance measured is infinite, replace the steering wheel controls switch - left. |
- Igniton OFF, verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit terminal 9.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit for an open/high resistance. |
- If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
