Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle has an extended crank time or the check engine light is on. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTC P069E set as current or history, alone or in combination with the other codes in the engine control module (ECM).

Cause

GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of concerns for DTC P069E. GM has a need to obtain technical information first hand from the dealer technician during diagnosis and PRIOR to repair. As a result, this information will be used by engineering to help root-cause the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix.

Correction

Technicians are to capture the freeze frame data from the fuel pump control module and engine control module and contact the engineer.

  1. Verify that the VIN and mileage are correct on the repair order.
  2. Verify DTC P069E is set as current or in history. If there is no DTC P069E, this bulletin does not apply. Refer to Service Information for further diagnosis and repair.
  3. Capture the freeze frame data from the FPCM (fuel pump control module) and the ECM (engine control module).
  4. E-mail the freeze frame data to [email protected]. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 07-07-30-010 for more information on how to capture and e-mail data via TIS2WEB® software.

  5. For dealers located within three hours of the Metro Detroit area, prior to making any repairs, call Angelina Kretz at 248-497-5548. Engineering may want to visit your dealer.
  6. If you do not hear from engineering within one hour, continue to repair the vehicle per SI.
