Subject: | Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Shudder/Vibration (Install New TCM Calibration) |
Models: | 2003 Saturn VUE (AWD models only) |
with 2.2L L4 Engine (VIN D-RPO L61) and VT25E transaxles (RPO M16) |
Attention: | General Manager, Fixed Operations Manager, Parts Manager, and Technician |
Some customers may comment on a vibration when the vehicle reaches approximately 60-65 mph (97-105 km/h). The shudder or vibration is present at the above mph range during light throttle application and will remain so as long as the engine load remains constant during these conditions.
Condition may be caused by engine power pulsation being transmitted through the Torque Converter Clutch when engaged.
Install a new TCM calibration based on the vehicle identification number (VIN).
Notice: Ensure the correct calibration is installed according to the VIN. Incorrect reprogramming of the TCM will adversely affect transmission performance.
If commanding the TCC off did NOT eliminate the condition, refer to the 2002-2003 Chassis VUE Service Manual for additional diagnostic assistance.
If commanding the TCC off did eliminate the condition, install the correct calibration from the calibration information table provided below.
