    • J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center
    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  3. Object Number: 894005  Size: SH
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Caution: Do not remove hoses or lines before system is fully discharged. System may be under pressure and contact with R134a may cause personal injury.

  6. Remove the discharge hose to compressor bolt.
  7. Remove the discharge hose from the compressor.
  8. Install the caps on the discharge hose and the compressor to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
  9. Remove the electrical harness clip from the discharge hose.

  11. Remove the bolt that secures the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
  12. Remove the discharge line from the block fitting.
  13. Install the caps on the discharge line and the condenser block to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.

  14. Object Number: 892718  Size: SH
  15. Remove the discharge hose clamp screw from the cradle.
  16. Install the caps on the discharge hose and the condenser block to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
  17. Remove and discard the seal washers.
  18. Remove the discharge hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 892723  Size: SH
  1. Install the discharge hose to the vehicle.
  2. Remove the discharge hose cap.
  3. Remove the condenser block fitting cap.
  4. Install new seal washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  5. Install the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the bolt which secures the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Remove the cap from the compressor discharge port.
  10. Remove the cap from the discharge hose.
  11. Install a new seal washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  12. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  13. Install the bolt that secures the discharge hose to the compressor.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  15. Install the electrical harness clip onto the discharge hose.

  16. Object Number: 892718  Size: SH
  17. Install the screw that secures the discharge hose clamp to the cradle.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  21. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.
