Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Caution: Do not remove hoses or lines before system is fully discharged. System may be
under pressure and contact with R134a may cause personal injury.
- Remove the discharge hose to compressor bolt.
- Remove the discharge hose from the compressor.
- Install the caps on the discharge hose and the compressor to prevent moisture
entry and oil spillage.
- Remove the electrical harness clip from the discharge hose.
- Remove the bolt that secures the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
- Remove the discharge line from the block fitting.
- Install the caps on the discharge line and the condenser block to prevent
moisture entry and oil spillage.
- Remove the discharge hose clamp screw from the cradle.
- Install the caps on the discharge hose and the condenser block to prevent
moisture entry and oil spillage.
- Remove and discard the seal washers.
- Remove the discharge hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the discharge hose to the vehicle.
- Remove the discharge hose cap.
- Remove the condenser block fitting cap.
- Install new seal washers. Refer to
Sealing Washer Replacement
.
- Install the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the bolt which secures the discharge hose to the condenser block fitting.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Remove the cap from the compressor discharge port.
- Remove the cap from the discharge hose.
- Install a new seal washer. Refer to
Sealing Washer Replacement
.
- Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
- Install the bolt that secures the discharge hose to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the electrical harness clip onto the discharge hose.
- Install the screw that secures the discharge hose clamp to the cradle.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Using J 39400-A
, leak
test the fittings of the component.
