    • J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center
    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  3. Object Number: 892706  Size: SH
  4. Remove the nut that secures the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.
  5. Remove the condenser hose from the evaporator hose assembly.
  6. Install the cap on the evaporator hose assembly to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
  7. Release the condenser hose from the rail clamp.

  9. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  10. Caution: Do not remove hoses or lines before system is fully discharged. System may be under pressure and contact with R134a may cause personal injury.

  11. Remove the bolt that secures the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.

  12. Object Number: 893625  Size: SH
  13. Remove the screws from the condenser hose clamps.
  14. Remove the condenser hose from the condenser clamps.

  15. Object Number: 892738  Size: SH
  16. Remove the condenser hose from the condenser block.
  17. Install a plug into the condenser block to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
  18. Remove and discard the seal washers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 892738  Size: SH
  1. Remove the condenser block plug.
  2. Install new seal washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  3. Install the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the screws that secure the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the condenser hose into the condenser clamps.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the evaporator hose cap.
  11. Install a new seal washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  12. Install the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.
  13. Install the nut that secures the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  15. Install the condenser hose into the inner rail clamp and close.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.
