Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the rear wheel and the tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the rear rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
- Remove the upper and the lower return springs from the park brake shoes.
- Remove the park brake shoe hold down retainers.
- Remove the park brake shoes and the adjuster.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
Installation Procedure
- Coat the adjuster with silicone grease at the locations in the diagram.
- Attach the park brake shoes to the back plate with the retainer springs.
- Slightly pull apart the shoes and install the adjuster.
- Check that the park brake shoes are properly engaged with the park brake lever.
- Install the upper and the lower return springs.
- Install the rear rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
- Install the rear wheel and the assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
