Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 896861 Size: SH
  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  2. Remove the head restraint. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
  3. On manual seats, remove the recliner handle. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Recliner Handle Replacement .
  4. Remove the outer seat finish panel. Refer to Front Seat Front Finish Panel Replacement .

  5. Remove the fasteners from the inner recliner cover and remove the cover.

    6. Object Number: 897941 Size: SH
  6. If equipped, pull firmly on the lumbar knob from side to side.

    7. Object Number: 866891 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the hook retainers from the bottom of the seat back cover.

    8. Notice: Use care when disengaging the hook and loop fasteners. The hook end may pull from the seat foam pad, requiring foam pad replacement.

  8. Fold the seat back cover over the top of the seat back to expose the seat cover wire.

  9. Unsnap the wire from the wire retainer to disengage the seat back cover.

  10. Remove the head restraint guides by compressing the tabs while pulling up on the sleeve.
  11. Remove the seat back trim cover.

    12. Object Number: 1199325 Size: SH
  12. Remove the seat back pad backing from the tabs on the seat back frame.
  13. Remove the seat back pad from the frame.

  14. Remove the seat back attachment bolts and remove the seat back from the seat cushion frame.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the seat back to the seat cushion frame and install the bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  2. If the seat back cover is being replaced, transfer the seat cover upper wire to the new seat back cover.
  3. Install the seat back pad to the foam.
  4. Install the pad backing to the tabs on the seat back frame.
  5. Install the seat back cover trim starting at the top.

  6. Install the head restraint guides to the seat back frame.

    7. Object Number: 897771 Size: SH
  7. Snap the seat back cover wire to the wire retainer.
  8. Install the remaining seat back cover trim by folding the trim down.

    9. Object Number: 866891 Size: SH
  9. Connect the hook retainers to the seat back cover bottom.

    10. Object Number: 897941 Size: SH
  10. If equipped, install the lumbar knob by pushing firmly on the knob.

    11. Object Number: 897798 Size: SH
  11. Install the inner recliner cover and fasteners.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 25 N·m (22 lb in).

  12. Install the outer set finish panel. Refer to Front Seat Front Finish Panel Replacement .
  13. On manual seats, install the recliner handle. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Recliner Handle Replacement .

  14. Install the seat into the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
