  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Operate the heated seat switch in the high, low, and off switch positions.

Does the heated seat system operate normally?

Does the heated seat switch indicator operate normally?

  1. Disconnect the heated seat switch connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the ignition voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

--

Connect a test lamp from the ignition voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the heated seat switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the heated seat terminals 1 and 2 connector from the power seat body harness connector.
  2. Test the heated seat switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the heated seat terminals 3 and 4 connector from the power seat body harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the heated seat module ignition voltage supply circuit terminal in the body harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from the ignition voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the body harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the heated seat terminals 1 and 2 connector from the power seat body harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the heated seat switch signal circuit terminal in the body harness connector to ground.
  3. Operate the heated seat switch in the high and low positions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in the high and low switch positions?

  1. Using a DMM test the resistance from the heated seat switch high/low signal circuit terminal in the body harness connector to ground.
  2. Operate the heated seat switch in the following positions:
  3. • High
    • Low
    • Off

Are the resistance measurements at or near the specified values?

    • High 2.5  K ohms
    • Low 6.5  K ohms
    • Off 10.5  K ohms

Test the heated seat switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the high/low switch signal circuit for the following conditions:

    • An open
    • A short to ground
    • A short to voltage

Repair the ignition voltage supply circuit to the heated seat switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the heated seat switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the ignition voltage supply circuit to the heated seat module for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the heated seat module ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the heated seat switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
