Schematic Reference: Video System Schematics

DEFINITION: With the rear video system on and a DVD playing, the radio off, the rear speakers do not play video audio through one side. With the rear video system on and no DVD playing, and the radio is on and RSA is off, radio audio plays from all rear speakers normally.

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Turn on the wireless headphones.
  3. Test the operation of the radio with the video entertainment system off. Radio audio plays through the vehicle speakers.
  4. Turn off the radio.
  5. Turn on the DVD player. Load a DVD in the DVD player. Start the DVD. Video audio plays through the vehicle speakers and the wireless headphones. The display plays video from the DVD player.
  6. While the DVD is playing, turn the radio on. The rear speakers mute. The front speakers play radio audio. Video audio plays through the wireless headphones.

Using the video remote control, test the balance and fade to the overhead and rear speakers.

Are both left and right audio channels inoperative?

Test the DVD audio signal (-) circuit for an open. Test the VCP/DVD power enable signal circuit for an open or short to battery positive voltage.

Test the appropriate DVD audio signal (+) circuit for an open or short to ground.

Inspect for poor connections at the following harness connectors:

    • The AVI module
    • The radio connector
    • The digital video disc (DVD) player connector

Replace the digital video disc (DVD) player. Refer to Video Disc Player Replacement .
