Removal Procedures

    Object Number: 929219 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the lift gate weatherstrip. Refer to Liftgate Weatherstrip Replacement .
  3. Lower the rear edge of the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the cargo shade by pushing to one side to release and lift up.
  5. Release the 3 lower quarter window trim retainers and let the panel hang.
  6. Remove the left tail lamp access panel and Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  7. Tape one feed wire onto both electrical connectors.
  8. Remove both the left and right pass through grommets from the body.
  9. Pull the wires up through the grommet hole on the right and feed the wire from the back side.

  10. Remove the nozzle from the lift gate. Refer to Rear Window Washer Nozzle Replacement in Wiper/Washers Systems.
  11. Apply tape around the edges of the roof and the quarter panel.
  12. Remove the lift gate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
  13. Remove the E-clips from the hinge pins.
  14. With an assistant remove the hinge pins.
  15. With an assistant remove the lift gate from the vehicle.

Installation Procedures

    Object Number: 929231 Size: SH
  1. With as assistant position the lift gate to the hinges.
  2. Install the hinge pins and the E-clip retainers.
  3. Install the lift gate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
  4. Remove the tape from the body.
  5. Connect the washer hose and pull the feed wire to route the hose if the old lift gate was reinstalled.

  6. Pull the wires through the grommet hole on the right side.
  7. Remove the feed wires from the electrical connectors.
  8. Install the left and right grommets to the body.
  9. Connect the electrical connectors.
  10. Install the left tail lamp access panel.
  11. Reposition the lower quarter trim panel.
  12. Reposition the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  13. Install the lift gate weatherstrip. Refer to Liftgate Weatherstrip Replacement .
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
