The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

On rare occasions, a crank no start condition may be experienced after the fuel pump module has been replaced. This will only occur when the engine is cold started in ambient temperatures near 15 F (-9 C) or lower. Upon inspection, no fuel pressure will be found during the condition even though the fuel pump is operating. If the vehicle is pushed indoors and allowed to warm up, the concern will not be present again. This may be the result of a miss-built fuel pump module, part number 15245457.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If this concern occurs, check the fuel pressure during the concern and listen for the fuel pump. If the fuel pump is operating, there is no fuel pressure, and the fuel pump module has been replaced recently, remove the fuel pump module and inspect the fuel return and supply lines at the top of the fuel pump module. The large diameter line should be connected to the S port of the fuel pump module and the small diameter line should be attached to the R port of the fuel pump module. If the lines are reversed, the fuel pump module is inbuilt and another one should be ordered from GMSPO. Before installing the new fuel pump module, inspect it to ensure that the lines are routed properly. If the lines are routed properly, replace the fuel pump module for evaluation.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
