Two labels on your vehicle show how much weight your vehicle can carry. The Tire Loading Information Label tell you the proper size, speed rating and recommended inflation pressures for the tires on your vehicle. It also gives you important information about the number of people that can be in your vehicle and the total weight that you can carry.
The weight is called the Vehicle Capacity Weight and includes the weight of all occupants, cargo, and all non-factory installed options.
The Tire Loading Information is located on the inside door of your vehicle's glove compartment.
The other label is the Vehicle Certification Label. It tells you the gross weight capacity of your vehicle, called the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating).
The Vehicle Certification Label can be found in the following locations:
• | Coupe: The rear edge of the driver's side front door. |
• | Sedan: The rear edge of the driver's side front door. |
The GVRW includes the following:
• | Weight of the vehicle |
• | All occupants |
• | All cargo |
Never exceed the GVWR for your vehicle, or the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) for either the front or rear axle. If you do have a heavy load, you should spread it out as evenly as possible.
The payload capacity is shown on the Tire Loading Certification Label. This is the maximum load capacity the your vehicle can carry. Be sure to include the weight of the occupants as part of your load. If you add any accessories or equipment after your vehicle left the factory, remember to subtract the weight of these things from the payload. Your retailer can help you with this.
When you carry removable items, you may need to put a limit on how many people you carry inside your vehicle. Be sure to weight your vehicle before you buy and install the new equipment.
