The message center is located in the instrument panel cluster at the bottom of your speedometer. It is a two-line display that gives you odometer and important safety and maintenance information. Information messages shown in the message center work along with the other gages and indicators in the instrument panel cluster.
Longer messages are displayed on both display lines in this manual for clarity. Your vehicle's message center will actually display only one part of the massage at a time, using only the top display line. When you turn the ignition on to ACC, the odometer and trip odometer are shown. When you turn the ignition to RUN, the entire message center lights up for a few seconds to check the display. The odometer and information messages show in the top line of the message center. When information message need to be shown, they will be shown in the top line instead of the odometer.
If there are several messages, each message will be shown for a few seconds before the next message is displayed. The list of messages repeat. You can clear messages individually by pressing the trip reset stem while the message you want cleared is showing. Many messages will also cause a chime to sound to alert you to the message.
When the ignition key is in the OFF/LOCK position, the odometer can be displayed by pressing the trip reset stem, located in the instrument panel cluster. The message center will show the odometer for a few seconds, and then go off.
This section describes the odometer, trip odometer and the information messages you may see and what to do when you see them.
