Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

Circuit/System Description

The powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) monitors the cruise control indicator switch. When the cruise on/off switch is switched ON, the cruise control switch is closed and the signal circuit is high. When the cruise on/off switch is switched OFF, the cruise control switch is open and the signal circuit is low.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, verify that the Cruise Lamp parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) inputs reads On.
  2. ⇒If the parameter displays Off, replace the IPC.
  3. Observe the Cruise Control Active parameter in the PCM/ECM.
  4. ⇒If the parameter reads Off, replace the IPC.
    ⇒If the parameter displays On, replace the PCM/ECM.
