    • DT-47541 (DW340-120-02) Wheel Bearing Remover Adapter

    • DT-47543 (DW-340-120-04) Wheel Bearing Installer Adapter
    • J 21474-01 Control Arm Bushing Set
    • J 22912-B Split Plate
    • J-37105-C (CH-46560) (DW-340-040) Front Hub Service Set

Disassembly Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the wheel hub, bearing, knuckle, and brake shield as an assembly. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement.
  3. Use a vise in order to hold the knuckle assembly.
  4. Remove the brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1903154  Size: SH
  6. From the J-37105-C front hub service set , or the CH-46560 front hub service set , or the DW-340-040 front hub service set , apply J-23444-A lubricant to the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod  (4).
  7. Insert the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod through the following:
  8. 6.1. The 217801 (CH-46560-06) (DW340-040-6) bearing
    6.2. The J-37105-1 (CH-46560-01) (DW340-040-1) bridge  (1)
    6.3. The hub
    6.4. The DT-47540 (DW340-120-01) adapter  (2)
  9. From either the J 21474-01 control arm bushing set or the CH-46560 front hub service set , install the J-21474-4 (CH-46560-05) nut  (3) to the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod .

  10. Object Number: 1903283  Size: SH
  11. Remove the wheel hub from the wheel bearing.
  12. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  13. If necessary, use the J 22912-B split plate , or equivalent, and a hydraulic press in order to remove the bearing race from the hub.

  14. Object Number: 1903286  Size: SH
  15. Remove the retaining ring from the knuckle.

  16. Object Number: 1903288  Size: SH
  17. Insert the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod  (2) through the following:
  18. 12.1. The 217801 (CH-46560-06) (DW340-040-6) bearing
    12.2. The J-37105-1 (CH-46560-01) (DW340-040-1) bridge  (1)
    12.3. The wheel bearing
    12.4. The DT-47541 (DW340-120-02) adapter  (4)
  19. Install the J-21474-4 (CH-46560-05) nut  (3) to the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod .

  20. Object Number: 1903295  Size: SH
  21. Remove the wheel bearing from the knuckle.
  22. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  23. Discard the wheel bearing.
  24. Clean the bore of the knuckle.

Assembly Procedure

  1. Use a vise in order to hold the steering knuckle.

  2. Object Number: 1903298  Size: SH
  3. Insert the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod  (2) through the following:
  4. 2.1. The 217801 (CH-46560-06) (DW340-040-6) bearing
    2.2. The DT-47543 (DW-340-120-04) adapter  (1)
    2.3. The NEW wheel bearing
    2.4. The DT-47542 (DW340-120-03) adapter  (4)
  5. Install the J-21474-4 (CH-46560-05) nut  (3) to the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod .

  6. Object Number: 1903300  Size: SH
  7. Install the wheel bearing to the knuckle.
  8. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  9. Install the retaining ring to the knuckle.
  10. Install the brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement.

  11. Object Number: 1872333  Size: SH
  12. Insert the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod  (1) through the following:
  13. 8.1. The DT-47541 (DW340-120-02) adapter  (3)
    8.2. The hub
    8.3. The DT-47540 (DW340-120-01) adapter  (4)
    8.4. The 217801 (CH-46560-06) (DW340-040-6) bearing  (2)
  14. Install the nut (5) to the J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) rod .
  15. Install the hub to the wheel bearing.
  16. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  17. Verify the hub rotates smoothly.
  18. Install the wheel hub, bearing, knuckle, and brake shield as an assembly. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement.
  19. Lower the vehicle.
