Condition

Some customers may comment on a boom noise at idle when the A/C is operating.

Cause

The resonance of the A/C discharge pipe by the compressor pumping pressure may cause this condition.

Correction

Install a rubber damping grommet, P/N 96887033, between the radiator and the discharge pipe using the following procedure.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 2034759  Size: SH
  3. Place the rubber grommet (3) as shown above between the radiator and the discharge pipe (1).

  4. Object Number: 2034761  Size: SH

    Object Number: 2034763  Size: SH
  5. Fit the rubber grommet over the pipe by turning in a clockwise direction as shown above.

  6. Object Number: 2034764  Size: SH
  7. Position the grommet (1) to make the bottom of the grommet come in contact with the side of the radiator as shown above.
