DEFINITION: The theft deterrent alarm does not chirp when the system is armed and does not sound when the system is in alarm mode.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent?

Go to Step 2

  1. Open the driver and passenger windows.
  2. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  3. Close all the doors, rear compartment, and the hood.
  4. Lock the doors with the transmitter.

Do the turn signals flash to confirm the content theft deterrent (CTD) system is arming?

Go to Step 3

Go to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Alarm Mode Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the theft deterrent alarm.
  2. Connect a test light between the alarm battery circuit and the ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test light across the alarm circuits.
  2. Open the driver and passenger windows.
  3. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  4. Close all the doors, rear compartment, and the hood.
  5. Lock the doors with the transmitter.
  6. Open the hood.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Test for an open or short to ground in the battery feed circuit of the theft deterrent alarm. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Replace the fuse if necessary.

Test for an open in the ground feed circuit of the theft deterrent alarm. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a poor connection at the theft deterrent alarm . Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a poor connection at the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
