Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the park brake shoes and the hardware. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  2. Remove the bolt and the park brake cable from the left rear backing plate.
  3. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  4. Remove the 3 nuts and the front floor forward heat shield.
  5. Remove the 2 nuts and the front floor center heat shield.
  6. Remove the 5 bolts and the fuel tank shield.
  7. If the vehicle has ABS, separate the ABS harness from the left rear clamp.
  8. Remove the 4 bolts from the 4 clamps.

  9. Object Number: 853219  Size: SH
  10. Remove the left rear park brake cable (7) from the equalizer (8).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 853219  Size: SH
  1. Install the left rear park brake cable (7) to the equalizer (8).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 4 bolts to the 4 clamps.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (47.79 lb in).

  5. If the vehicle has ABS, install the ABS harness to the left rear clamp.
  6. Install the fuel tank shield and the 5 bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5.5 N·m (48.68 lb in).

  8. Install the front floor center heat shield and the 2 nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 5.5 N·m (48.68 lb in).

  10. Install the front floor forward heat shield and the 3 nuts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 5.5 N·m (48.68 lb in).

  12. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  13. Install the park brake cable and the bolt to the left rear backing plate.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N·m (69.04 lb in).

  15. Install the shoes and the hardware. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  16. Inspect the park brake lever travel. Adjust as necessary. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
