Rear Brake Hose Replacement Drum Brakes

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .



3. Clean the brake hose (1) and the 2 fittings (3, 6).

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

4. Loosen the 2 fittings.
5. Remove the 2 brake hose retainers (4, 5).
6. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipes (2, 7).
7. Install caps or plugs to the brake pipe fittings in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

1. Remove the caps or plugs from the brake pipes (2, 7).

2. Install the brake hose (1) and the 2 retainers (4, 5) to the brake pipes (2, 7).

Tighten
Tighten the fittings to 15.2 N·m (11.21 lb ft).

3. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
4. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
5. Lower the vehicle.
