Did you review the Instrument Cluster Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the oil gage indicator is inoperative.

Does the oil gage indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  2. Connect fused jumper from the oil pressure switch connector to chassis ground.

Does the oil pressure indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the oil pressure switch.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

With oil pressure switch connector still grounded, test the oil pressure signal circuit at cavity 10 of the instrument panel cluster assembly for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing .

Is ground present?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the oil pressure signal circuit between cavity 10 of the instrument panel cluster assembly and the oil pressure switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
