Disabling Zone 6

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

  3. Object Number: 828109  Size: SH

    Important: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block (1), which is located near the base of the steering column.
  5. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  6. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  8. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  9. Remove the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Seat Belts.
  10. Remove the side impact sensor electrical connector.

Enabling Zone 6

  1. Install the side impact sensor electrical connector.
  2. Install the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Seat Belts.
  3. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Install the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  5. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  7. Object Number: 828109  Size: SH
  8. Install the AM2 Fuse into the junction block (1).
  9. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  10. The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
  11. Perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - SIR .
