Circuit Description

If a malfunction in the speed sensor signal circuit or the yaw rate sensor circuit occurs, the 4WD control module will output this DTC.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC C1298 Linear Solenoid Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTC

This DTC shall run when the ignition is On.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

For 1 second or more, with the current of 0.8 A or more, an open or short in the linear solenoid circuit occurs.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The 4WD control module will prohibit operations by the fail safe function.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC will clear when conditions for setting the DTC have been repaired.

  1. Turn OFF ignition.
  2. Turn On the ignition, with engine Off.
  3. Measure the resistance between the terminals 1 and 2. and body ground.
  4. Measure the resistance between the terminal 1 and body ground.
  5. Measure the resistance between the terminal 2 and body ground.

Is the resistance measured within the specified values?

Between terminals 1 and 2 = 2.2 - 2.6 Ohms

Between terminals 1 and body ground = 10 Kohms or higher

Between terminals 2 and body ground = 10 Kohms or higher

  1. Disconnect the 4WD control module connector.
  2. Measure the resistance between the 4WD linear solenoid connector terminal 1 and the 4WD control module connector terminal 13.
  3. Measure the resistance between the 4WD linear solenoid connector terminal 2 and the 4WD control module connector terminal 32.
  4. Measure the resistance between the 4WD control module connector terminal 13 and body ground.
  5. Measure the resistance between the 4WD control module connector terminal 32 and body ground.

Is the resistance measured within the specified values?

Between 4WD linear solenoid terminal 1 and 4WD control module terminal 13 = Below 1 Ohm

Between 4WD linear solenoid terminal 2 and 4WD control module terminal 32 = Below 1 Ohm

Between 4WD control module terminal 13 and body ground = 10 Kohms or higher

Between 4WD control module terminal 32 and body ground = 10 Kohms or higher
