Remote Control Door Lock Receiver

Object Number: 860850 Size: SH

The remote control door lock receiver (1) is located in the upper right quarter panel. The receiver directly controls the functions of the keyless entry system. The receiver is able to receive signals from up to four transmitters, and must be programmed to accept signals from any transmitters that are to be added or replaced.

Transmitter

The transmitter unit is a battery powered, water resistant, radio frequency signal generator. Two transmitters are provided with each vehicle. The receiver is capable of recognizing up to four transmitters. Replacement transmitters for the vehicle may be obtained, however the receiver must be reprogrammed to accept the new transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Functional Operation

The Remote Keyless Entry system will execute the following functions in response to pressing the buttons labeled LOCK, UNLOCK, and HATCH. The transmitter should be held 10 meters (30 feet) or less from the vehicle for consistent operation.

    • Pressing the unlock button once will unlock the left front side door.
    • Pressing the unlock button a second time within 3.0 seconds will unlock all doors.
    • Pressing the lock button will lock all doors. The LOCK button will be inoperative if the key is in the ignition or a door is open or the glass hatch is ajar.
    • Pressing the HATCH key for about 2 seconds will release the hatch glass.

Battery voltage is applied at all times through the DOME fuse to the remote control door lock receiver. Battery voltage is also applied at all times through the DOOR fuse to the multifunction alarm module. The remote control door lock receiver module is permanently grounded at G201. The remote control door lock receiver performs the functions of interpreting the signals from the transmitter and sending them to the multifunction alarm module which controls the lock, unlock, and hatch release functions.

When the LOCK button on the transmitter is pressed, a lock signal is sent to the remote control door lock receiver which sends a lock signal to the multifunction alarm module. The multifunction alarm module then provides voltage and ground to the door actuators causing them to move in the lock direction which locks all doors. The LOCK function on the transmitter will be inoperative if the key is in the ignition or a door is open or the hatch glass is ajar.

When the UNLOCK button on the transmitter is pressed once, an unlock signal is sent to the remote control door lock receiver which sends an unlock signal to the multifunction alarm module. The multifunction alarm module provides voltage and ground to the left front door lock causing the actuator to move in the unlock direction which unlocks the driver's door. When the UNLOCK button is pressed a second time within 3 seconds, a second signal is sent to the remote control door lock receiver which sends a second unlock signal to the multifunction alarm module. The multifunction alarm module then provides voltage and ground to the remaining door lock actuators causing them to move in the unlock direction which unlocks the remaining doors.

When the HATCH button on the transmitter is pressed for about two seconds, the remote control door lock receiver receives the extended hatch unlock signal and sends it to the multifunction alarm module. The multifunction alarm module provides voltage to the grounded hatch glass actuator causing it to release the hatch glass. The glass hatch actuator is permanently grounded at G300.

Remote Function Customize Parameters (Scan Tool)

The remote functions can be customized according to the customer preference.

Important:

   • After confirming whether the items requested by the customer are applicable or not for customization, perform customizing operations.
   • Be sure to record the current settings before customizing.
   • Before troubleshooting the theft deterrent system, pay attention because there is a possibility that a function has been disabled by customizing. If the wireless operation does not function, check that the wireless operation has not been disabled by customizing, then perform troubleshooting.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect the scan tool.
  3. Turn the scan tool ON, and select the customize setting for the remote functions.
