The power steering control module receives vehicle speed signals from the skid control module via CAN communication. The power steering control module provides appropriate assisting force in accordance with the vehicle speed, based on the signals.
If the power steering control module detects this DTC, it adjusts the amount of power assistance for a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and continues the system control.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC C1541 Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
This DTC shall run when key is inserted into key cylinder.
This DTC is detected when vehicle speed signals via CAN communication are cut off for 3 seconds or more.
• | Power assist stops. |
• | The P/S warning indicator illuminates. |
The DTC will clear when conditions for setting the DTC have been repaired.
If the steering column or power steering control module has been replaced, the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration, must be performed. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Initialization and Steering Shaft Torque Sensor Zero Point Calibration .
