Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement All Wheel Drive
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the console box upper support.
- Turn back the floor carpet.
- Remove the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the console box lower support.
- Loosen the lock nut (1).
- Loosen the adjusting nut (2).
- Separate the park brake cable equalizer (1) from the rear park brake cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to
Propeller Shaft Replacement.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Remove the park brake hardware. Refer to
Park Brake Hardware Replacement.
- Remove the rear park brake cable clamp (1) from the body.
- Remove the bolt (1) that retains the rear park brake cable to the body.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the bolt (1) and separate the rear park brake cable (2) from the backing plate.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the rear park brake cable from the guide.
- Remove the rear park brake cable (1) from the vehicle.
- Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) and remove the clamp from the rear park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clamp to the rear park brake cable and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).
- Install the rear park brake cable into the guide.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable (2) to the backing plate.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Position the rear park brake cable (1) on the body.
- Install the bolt (1) in order to retain the rear park brake cable to the body and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable clamp (1) to the body.
- Install the park brake hardware. Refer to
Park Brake Hardware Replacement.
- Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Install the propeller shaft. Refer to
Propeller Shaft Replacement.
- Install the rear park brake cable to the equalizer (1).
- Adjust the park brake and tighten the nuts. Refer to
Parking Brake Adjustment.
- Install the console box lower support with the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the floor carpet around the console box lower support.
- Install the console box upper support with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement GT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the console box upper support.
- Turn back the floor carpet.
- Remove the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the console box lower support.
- Loosen the lock nut (1).
- Loosen the adjusting nut (2).
- Separate the park brake cable equalizer (1) from the rear park brake cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Remove the park brake hardware. Refer to
Park Brake Hardware Replacement.
- Remove the rear park brake cable clamp (1) from the body.
- Remove the bolt (1) that retains the rear park brake cable to the body.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the bolt (1) and separate the rear park brake cable (2) from the backing plate.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the rear park brake cable from the guide.
- Remove the rear park brake cable (1) from the vehicle.
- Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) and remove the clamp from the rear park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clamp to the rear park brake cable and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).
- Install the rear park brake cable into the guide.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable (2) to the backing plate.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Position the rear park brake cable (1) on the body.
- Install the bolt (1) in order to retain the rear park brake cable to the body and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable clamp (1) to the body.
- Install the park brake hardware. Refer to
Park Brake Hardware Replacement.
- Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Install the rear park brake cable to the equalizer (1).
- Adjust the park brake and tighten the nuts. Refer to
Parking Brake Adjustment.
- Install the console box lower support with the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the floor carpet around the console box lower support.
- Install the console box upper support with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement Except All Wheel Drive and GT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the console box upper support.
- Turn back the floor carpet.
- Remove the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the console box lower support.
- Loosen the lock nut (1).
- Loosen the adjusting nut (2).
- Separate the park brake cable equalizer (1) from the rear park brake cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the center exhaust pipe with the resonator and the catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement.
- Remove the 3 nuts (1, 2, 3) and the upper front floor heat shield.
- Remove the 2 nuts (2, 3) and the upper center floor heat shield (1).
- Remove the 4 bolts (2, 3, 4, 5) and the fuel tank heat shield (1).
- Remove the park brake lever protector (1) from the rear park brake cable.
- Disengage the clamp (2) from the rear park brake cable.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Separate the rear park brake cable (1) from the bracket on the rear brake caliper.
- Use an offset wrench (3) in order to disengage the clip (2) and remove the rear park brake cable (1) from the brake caliper.
- Remove the rear park brake cable clamp (1) from the body.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the rear park brake cable from the guide.
- Remove the bolt (1) that retains the rear park brake cable to the body.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove the rear park brake cable (1) from the vehicle.
- Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) and remove the clamp from the rear park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clamp to the rear park brake cable and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).
- Position the rear park brake cable (1) on the body.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the bolt (1) in order to retain the rear park brake cable to the body and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable into the guide.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear park brake cable clamp (1) to the body.
- Install the rear park brake cable (1) to the rear brake caliper and engage the clip (2).
- Install the rear park brake cable (1) to the bracket on the rear brake caliper.
- Install the bolt (1) and tighten to
6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Engage the clamp (2).
- Install the park brake lever protector (1) to the rear park brake cable.
- Install the fuel tank heat shield (1) with the 4 bolts (2, 3, 4, 5). Tighten the bolts to
5.5 N·m (49 lb in).
- Install the upper center floor heat shield (1) with the 2 nuts (2, 3). Tighten the nuts to
5.5 N·m (49 lb in).
- Install the upper front floor heat shield with the 3 nuts (1, 2, 3). Tighten the nuts to
5.5 N·m (49 lb in).
- Install the center exhaust pipe with the resonator and the catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement.
- Install the rear park brake cable to the equalizer (1).
- Adjust the park brake and tighten the nuts. Refer to
Parking Brake Adjustment.
- Install the console box lower support with the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the floor carpet around the console box lower support.
- Install the console box upper support with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to
27 N·m (19 lb ft).
- Install the rear floor console. Refer to
Rear Floor Console Replacement.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
