Removal Procedure
- If necessary, raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- If necessary, remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Clean the brake pipe (1) and the fittings (2).
- If the brake pipe is attached to a flexible brake hose (4), use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose.
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.
- Loosen the brake pipe fittings.
- If equipped, remove the brake pipe retainers (3).
Discard the retainers.
- If necessary, remove the brake pipe from the brackets.
- Remove the brake pipe from the vehicle.
- Install caps or plugs to the brake pipes on the vehicle in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the caps or the plugs from the brake pipes.
- If equipped, install NEW brake pipe retainers (3).
- If the brake pipe is attached to a flexible brake hose (4), use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose.
- Install the brake pipe (1) and the fittings (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Use torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in) and a union nut wrench in order to tighten the fitting (2) to
14 N·m (124 lb in).
- Install the brake pipe to the brackets as necessary.

Caution: Refer to Filling the Master Cylinder Caution in the Preface section.
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
- If you removed a tire and wheel assembly, install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- If you raised the vehicle, lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the hydraulic brake system for leaks. Repair as necessary. Refer to
Brake System External Leak Inspection.
