Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Clean the brake hose and the fittings.
Note: The left and right front brake hoses are not interchangeable.
- Place tags or marks on the brake hose in order to identify the installed position of the brake hose.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the fitting (1) from the caliper.
- Remove the brake hose from the caliper.
- Remove the brake hose gasket.
Discard the brake hose gasket.
- Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipe.
- Remove the brake hose retainer.
Discard the brake hose retainer.
- Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the bolt and separate the brake hose (1) from the bracket.
- Remove the brake hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- If you are reusing the brake hose, align the tags or marks in order to install the hose in the correct position.
If you are installing a new brake hose, verify the part number.
- Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.
- Install a NEW brake hose gasket and the brake hose to the caliper.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the fitting (1) and tighten to
29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe.
- Position the brake hose on the brake pipe. Ensure the brake hose is not kinked or twisted.
- Install a NEW retainer as far as the retainer will go.
- Use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose. Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in) and a union nut wrench in order to tighten the fitting to
14 N·m (124 lb in).
- Ensure the wheel speed sensor harness bracket is in the correct position.
- Install the brake hose (1) to the bracket.
- Install the bolt and tighten to
29 N·m (21 lb ft).

- Bleed the hydraulic brake system at the bleeder valve closest to the brake hose. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
