Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Clean the brake hose and the fittings.
  4. Note: The left and right front brake hoses are not interchangeable.

  5. Place tags or marks on the brake hose in order to identify the installed position of the brake hose.
  6. Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Remove the fitting (1) from the caliper.
  8. Remove the brake hose from the caliper.
  9. Remove the brake hose gasket.
  10. Discard the brake hose gasket.

  11. Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  12. Object Number: 815512  Size: SH
  13. Use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipe.
  14. Remove the brake hose retainer.
  15. Discard the brake hose retainer.

  16. Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  18. Remove the bolt and separate the brake hose (1) from the bracket.
  19. Remove the brake hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. If you are reusing the brake hose, align the tags or marks in order to install the hose in the correct position.
  2. If you are installing a new brake hose, verify the part number.

  3. Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.
  4. Install a NEW brake hose gasket and the brake hose to the caliper.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install the fitting (1) and tighten to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
  7. Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe.
  8. Position the brake hose on the brake pipe. Ensure the brake hose is not kinked or twisted.
  9. Install a NEW retainer as far as the retainer will go.
  10. Use a wrench in order to hold the brake hose. Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in) and a union nut wrench in order to tighten the fitting to 14 N·m (124 lb in).
  11. Ensure the wheel speed sensor harness bracket is in the correct position.

  13. Install the brake hose (1) to the bracket.
  14. Install the bolt and tighten to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
  15. Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Warning in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Filling the Master Cylinder Caution in the Preface section.

  16. Bleed the hydraulic brake system at the bleeder valve closest to the brake hose. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  17. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
