Removal Procedure
- Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential cover plug (1) and gasket.
- Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential drain plug and gasket, then drain the oil.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential drain plug with a new gasket and tighten to
39 N·m (29 lb ft).
- Add oil.
- Check the oil level.
- Install the rear differential carrier cover plug.
Note: After replacing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.
- Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential carrier cover plug (1) with a new gasket and tighten to
39 N·m (29 lb ft).
- Stop the vehicle in a level place.
Note:
• | Excessively large or small amount of oil may cause damage. |
• | After replacing oil, recheck the oil level after driving. |
- Check that the oil surface is within 5 mm (0.197 in) of the lowest position of the inner surface of the differential filler plug opening.
- Check for oil leakage if the oil level is low.
- Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential carrier cover plug (1) and a new gasket and tighten to
39 N·m
(29 lb ft).
