Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2009 🢒 Vibe - AWD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.4L (LAX) 🢒 Exhaust Camshaft and Valve Lifter Installation

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2018079 Size: SH
  1. Clamp the camshaft in a vise, then install the camshaft timing sprocket with the bolt.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the sprocket bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).


    Object Number: 2016783 Size: SH

    Note: Keep the installation surfaces and the back surfaces of the bearing free of engine oil.

  2. Align the claws (2) and install camshaft bearing (1) onto camshaft bearing cap.

    3. Object Number: 2016787 Size: SH
  3. Install the camshaft bearing (1) onto the cylinder head.
  4. Install camshaft.
  5. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the journal portion.

    6. Object Number: 2017598 Size: SH
  6. Examine the front marks and numbers, and check that the order is as shown in the illustration. Then install the bearing caps onto the cylinder head.
  7. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the bearing cap bolts.

    8. Object Number: 2017599 Size: SH
  8. Using several steps, uniformly tighten the 10 bearing cap bolts (1) in the sequence shown in the illustration.

    9. Tighten

        • No. 2 Bearing cap to 30 N·m (22 lb ft)
        • No. 3 Bearing cap to 9.0 N·m (80 lb in)
