J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

  1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft. Align the flywheel-to-engine marks.

  2. Object Number: 236532  Size: SH

    Caution: Apply the proper amount of the sealant to the fastener when assembling this component. Excessive use of the sealant can prohibit the component from being assembled properly or allow the fastener to loosen. A component or fastener that is not assembled properly can loosen or fall off leading to extensive engine damage.

  3. Apply GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or the equivalent, to the flywheel retaining bolt threads (1).
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, install the flywheel retaining bolts (1-8) to the crankshaft and tighten in sequence to 83 N·m (61 lb ft) .

  6. Object Number: 236523  Size: SH
  7. For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, install the 8 flywheel retaining bolts to the crankshaft and tighten the bolts to 49 N·m (36 lb ft) .

  8. Object Number: 236527  Size: SH
  9. Perform the final torque on the manual transmission flywheel retaining bolts.
  10. After the proper torque of 49 N·m (36 lb ft) has been reached, use a J 36660-A meter and tighten the flywheel bolts an additional 90 degrees.
